Our Story

About me
I’m Oonagh, a chef turned yoga teacher living in the Meath countryside. I am a passionate yoga teacher who is committed to helping others connect more to themselves, all while improving their flexibility and building strength. I have always been interested in wellness and taking a holistic approach to my health. In addition to being a qualified yoga teacher, I have a diploma in nutrition and health coaching and a masters in food innovation.

My journey with yoga started over 8 years ago as a way to relieve the stress I was feeling in my career. My career in food wasn’t always as I imagined it and at times felt like a struggle. The stress and pressure of working long shifts, unsociable hours and in challenging environments left me lacking from the passion that originally brought me to a career as a chef. I knew I needed a change and started listening to my own needs and putting my health first. I returned to study – graduating with a diploma in nutrition and health coaching and a masters in food innovation. During this time I also focused on deepening my yoga practice and discovered the calmness it brought to my life.

Fast forward a few years, I enrolled in the yoga teacher training course with yoga union and packed my bags for Bali. A solo trip that would both challenge and elevate my life more than I could have imagined. All I thought I knew about yoga was questioned and I fell more in love with this ancient practice.

why yoga

The importance of doing yoga

Yoga is an ancient philosophy combining meditation, breathwork and movement.

At homestretch yoga we believe yoga to be a way of life. Yoga is centerd around creating harmony between mind and body – hence feeling closer to our true self. Yoga allows us to quiet the noise around us, to dissolve the ego and detach from things which no longer serve us. We believe yoga should not be seen as a destination, but a journey which is ever changing as we change with it.

Stress Management

Yoga helps manage stress and anxiety - allowing us to quiet the mind and go inward.

Body Awareness

Practicing yoga connects mind, body and breath and builds overall body awareness.

Increased Mobility

Yoga increases mobility, balance, strength and flexibility.

Boosted Immunity

Stress reduction and increased circulation contribute to a stronger immune system.
